 16 Feb 2023

 Dear Father,

I am healthy and happy here and pray to God for the well being of all of you. I hope that this letter finds you in the best of health and spirits.

Ram visited me yesterday and broke the sad news of mother’s illness. He informed me that she was suffering from high blood pressure. I was really shocked and worried to hear about her. Why did you not inform me? It pained me much. She is already weak enough. You are requested never to delay to inform me about mother’s health. I think that she will have been admitted to Services Hospital, and hope that she is taking all necessary precautionary measures to bring it to normal. I request you to get her checked by some specialist and request her to follow the physician’s advice strictly. Do ask her to take her medicines regularly and take complete rest because she is under treatment now. She should take care of her diet and have light walk daily because it is a remedy for all diseases. When one’s mother is old, feeble and weak, it is one’s duty to look after her and comfort her in in one’s healthy strong arms. I will be soon with her to serve her. May she recover soon! I pray to God! Please also inform me about her present condition by the return of post at the earliest possible.

Anxiously waiting for your reply. Love to all at home.

 With best wishes,
 Yours affectionately,

Answer:

Subject : Value of trees
Dear Sir
Trees and plants have a vital role in our lives. In truth, life is possible because the trees are there. They provide us with oxygen which is essential for our life. Besides, they also add to the scenic beauty. The green areas of the city are called its lungs. They control the atmospheric pollution. In summer, the trees give us comfortable shade. In winter, they supply us wood for fire which keeps us warm. During the rains, trees prevent soil erosion. The rain washes the fertilizing layer of the soil downhill. The roots of the trees bind the soil and landslides are prevented. The trees supply us timber which is essential for making houses and its furniture. Birds and even some animals get their food and shelter from the trees. The same trees provide human beings with fruits and herbs. So through your newspaper I ask the people and authorities to stop this indiscriminate cutting of the trees.

Article Writing

Q12:-Parents today are facing a major problem with their children. They waste most of their time on Facebook and other social networking sites, with the result that their studies and other important activities are neglected. Write an article on this issue.

Solution:-

Pros and Cons of Social Networking Sites
By XYZ

Social networking has taken today’s youth by storm. Teenagers go crazy over it and spend most of their time in socialising on these sites. At the same time, it has created worry among the parents of teenagers. Parents now fear the worst, when they hear of ruined reputations, cyber crimes, online predators and other dangers.

When we talk about the pros and cons then there are always two sides of a coin. Let us take the positive aspect of networking first. Social networking sites spread information faster than any other media. These sites are the best source of news. These sites help solve crimes more quickly. The best advantage of social networking sites is for the students. They help a student to do better at school. They can easily discuss educational topics and assignments. Thus, they can score better grades in academics. It also improves relationships and increases friend circle. People can connect with their family and friends living abroad through skype and e-mail facilities. It helps to stay in touch with friends, they cannot meet regularly

Social network helps to spread false and unreliable information, which may harm groups, communities, and even nations. Students waste time by playing games and socialising. Therefore, they tend to score lower grades in academics, which leads to stress, misunderstandings, and arguments. Children spend less time in face-to-face interactions and this leads to self-centered personalities and behaviour. A person may suffer from loneliness, depression, anxiety, and general distress.
To sum up we can say that it’s wise to tread carefully and be aware of the pros and cons before we indulge.

Q13:-Looking at the increasing obesity among school children write an article on the topic.

Solution:-

Increasing Obesity in Children
By XYZ

In modern times, the problem of being overweight is quite prominent. Children are suffering from this disorder, which was once considered to be meant for adults only.

These days, children lead a sedentary lifestyle with very little physical exercise. Technological advancement has reduced physical exercise among children. They spend most of the time watching television, playing video games or on social networking sites. The second major cause of obesity is the junk food that the children eat. This includes burgers, pizzas, noodles, and aerated drinks. This type of food is easily available and has a good taste, but it does much harm to the health of the child. Children love to eat chips, chocolates, and ice-creams instead of a balanced diet. Junk food is high in calories and results in obesity.

It’s about time that parents keep a watch on their child’s health. They should feed them with milk, juices, and fruits. Moreover, children should be encouraged to do physical exercise. They should be encouraged to go to parks to play. Sports should be a major part of the school curriculum in order to maintain the physical fitness of school-going children

DIARY ENTRY

Q:-Write a diary entry describing the favourite time of your day.
Answer:

06-01 2016
Monday,

2:30 p.m

Dear Diary

My favourite time of the day is between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is the time when the sun is set and the air starts cooling down. At this time I either go for a stroll, play some games or sit quietly watching the activities around me. Sitting quietly doing nothing, in particular, is what I like the most.

The compound surrounding my house is a fairly large one. So my father has planted many trees in it. Birds of all sorts come to the trees in the evening and sing their sweet songs. I just sit under my favourite rambutan tree and listen to those lovely birds. However, I cannot just sit quietly all the time. My parents sometimes ask me to mow the lawn or help them in some gardening tasks.

These I do gladly for the air is nice and cool. Working under a hot sun is one thing I do not like. In the evening the sun is soft and gentle. It is pleasant to work in the garden then. Other times I might go out for a stroll or play games with my friends. In fact, many people come out of their houses to breathe in the cool evening air and to relax a bit, unless it is raining. This is the time of the day when the playing fields, parks and other recreational areas are filled with people. I guess I am not the only one who enjoys a nice outing in the evening.

Question 3:
Recently you visited the old age home in Delhi. You met old people who were lonely and sick. Their children had left them to fend for themselves. When you talked to them, you felt bad about the fact that they were not living with their children. Write about your experiences in your diary.
Answer:

Dear diary,

Today, I visited an old age home. I was surprised to see the condition of the old people there. Even though the medical facilities and food were good, it was disheartening to see that most of them were under depression. Their children had abandoned them. Some had forcefully kicked them out of the house. So now, they have nowhere to go.
When I talked to them, my heart was filled with sympathy for them. What could I do to make them happy? I told them some jokes and riddles, but they seemed to be unmoved by the humour. I spent some time with them and promised myself one thing. I will look after my parents when I grow up. I will never leave them like this.

I wondered why people misbehave with their parents like this. Parents should be respected and loved because parents are the best people in this world.

Shubham
